Winter Scarves

Here are three scarves I've been working on the last several months.

The first one is an awesome pattern I found on line, and I felt the pattern works great with the yarn I chose which is Lion Brand - Barley. The yarn is a mix of acrylic and nylon so it's got some stretch and bounce to it. The pattern is a simple ribbing two rows, knit two rows alternating until the desired length. I did a purl cast on with a purl side cast off of 34 stitches. Super easy!

This scarf is made with a plain taupe, soft, acrylic yarn. This scarf developed from a swatch of a new stitch I wanted to learn. The stitch is sometimes called picot, or double moss stitch. The stitch is created by knitting two, purling two, then on the next row doing the opposite, and the third row then created to match the first row. I made it super long so that I could wrap it and tie it anyway I wanted.

Finally, this scarf was created so that I could learn cabling. Initially I felt cabling is so beautiful that it would be hard, but it's really not at all. Once I completed my first row, I realized it's not difficult at all, and I am hooked. Hee, hee.

Wrapping it up

I had a great time, but all things come to an end. Today was about Nepolian's Tomb, pictures of wonderings, the Effiel Tower, and shopping!

Zoo pictures

Here are some pictures of the zoo I visited today.

Museum of Paleontology, Paris, France.

This place is insanely awesome! It was so amazing that it took me an entire day to go though the museum, and I am pretty sure I didn't see everything.

Museum of Natural History

I needed a break from the lines and crowds, so today I headed to Luxembourg Gardens, then the Museum  of Natural History. Amazing! I've  been at the museum  for hours and still haven't  seen everything. I walked here from a Metro stop passing through several  charming neighborhoods. It's  cold and rainy today, but I can't think of any where else I would rather be.

Misc ramblings

I wondered around yesterday in search of a yarn store after spending severely hours at the Orsy Museum. I couldn't  leave Paris  without  buying some yarn. I found La Droguerie. It was like stepping into a shop from the 18th century. It sort of reminded me of where Harry Potter bought his wand. The women there were absolutely wonderful toward me. I could of stayed there all day. I found a couple fabric stores, but I've  been shopping so much I am not sure how I am going to get everything in my carry-on.
