I couldn't resist this opportunity to snap this.

The dog and I took a drive out to Columbia Gorge today. We took historic hwy 30 which is definitely displaying a lot of Autumn fall leaves this time of year. It was an absolutely beautiful day.
What is this woman doing? She's was out there with a cane and carry-on language.
Was she lost? Did she just come from the airport? So odd.
Bob running and running. It wasn't until I was leaving I noticed the No Pets sign. Opps.
You can see Vista House in the background.
This looks like fun, but also a lot of work.

The wicker basket that holds all my winter stuff like hats, scarves, and glove totally fell apart the other day, and I was trying to think of something I could use that didn't sit on the floor. Then it hit me - make something that hangs from a coat post or maybe a hook. I liked the color of this Walmart bag, and since they are so inexpensive, I thought I would make something from it.
I cut a cresent shape out of the back starting from the far side of the handles. Then I took the handles and used them as binding for the opening of the bag. It was still too wide open, so I sewed both ends to the opposite side of the straps, and viola! A hanging bag holder thingy. It actually works pretty well, and the two opening at the top far right and left are perfect for umbrellas.

One of my favorite things to do between projects is to learn new ways to knit. Sometimes I come up with new ideas to finish or start a project.
For example; the green and white swatches on the left are practice runs for left SS and cording neck finishes. The bottom white is a bottom edge or sleeve finish. The blue in the middle is a seed stitch finish and bind off with stockinette stick between. The red and black is a swatch of red ribbing start finished off with a black ribbing bind off - I wanted to see which color I wanted to use for the binding before I started my project.

Currently I am lucky enough to work part-time which allows me to enjoy four day weekends. Of course I spend them doing as much as I possibly can. Here are a few pics from a recent weekend.
My lazy dog...Bob.
Awesome bird house I discovered while walking around in my neighborhood.
Spending a Saturday at the beach.
An afternoon at Latourell Falls.
Vista House, Columbia Gorge.
Bob the dog.
Alien flower I noticed on my morning walk.
Here are a few projects I am working on right now.
The first is a scarf made out of red wool yarn. I started this project as a test swatch as a way to practice cabling, and it turned into a scarf.
The second project is a sweater, but instead of the standard ribbing, I am going to finish it off with a rope style finish. This is accomplished by crocheting the edge in one direction, then reverse single crochet the other direction. I am excited to get started on the finishing, and I am four inches left on the last sleeve before I can dig in.
