A Beautiful Day in the Northwest

I took my bike for a ride the other day to take advantage of the last few sunny days of Fall. What a beautiful day!

Hat City

When I am bored and am between projects I like to use scrap yarn and knit a hat or two. With this pattern, knit four, purl two, you can turn any yarn into a chunky cap.

For a one size fits all hat cast on 72 stitches using a 10# circular needle. Knit four, purl two for about six to eight inches, then decrease alternating regular rows in increment of five until you have just a few stitches remaining. Use a darning needle to pull the remaining stitches together closing the top of the cap. Pull the yarn through the inside, then weave in the ends. I can whip out one of these in two days.

Holy Cowl

Cowls are so easy and fun to make. You can use any stitch that makes you happy using almost any yarn. I would think that wool would be a tad itchy. Here I used red, Lion Brand yarn, and a #8 circular needle. I wanted this cowl to have a closer fit so I casted 86 stitches using a long tail cast on method and knitting a purl 2, knit four ribbing pattern for 13 inches, then cast off by knitting the knits and purling the purls casting off purl wise.

Coast on a rainy day

I love the beach even when it's rainy and windy. The fall colors are bright now heading toward Tillamook. I headed out toward Netarts and Cape Mears Lighthouse. I stopped at Short Beach in Netarts before finally making it to the lighthouse. It was a relaxing day.

Fall in the Northwest

I took my bike for a ride today and took some good shots. What an amazing day!

This trip was a lot of fun. I got a great deal on a flight from Portland to Seattle. The flight was a half an hour - a car trip would be three hours. I got in early and was able to enjoy the entire day before flying home. I spent the day eating, walking, riding the ferries. I got to go to the the Museum of Pop Culture, and of course I shopped.

Harry Potter Goes Back To School Today

Today is the day that Harry Potter would go back to school using the magical platform at King's Cross.

I wanted to revisit my time in London and share some pics I took while I was there. I was there for only a day, but I did manage to see a lot.
